Weddings are full of traditions. The classic example of this being the groom not seeing his bride before she walks down the aisle. It is absolutely ok (and special) to follow these classic wedding traditions. However, there is something so equally beautiful about seeing each other before the ceremony during “The First Look”.

The first look is an intimate and private moment of seeing each other prior to everyone else.  You take the moment to take in each detail of each other and share some words. Some even exchange a gift — it’s incredibly special.

I am so happy Yasmine and Cory chose to do the first look. The Honeycomb sculpture on the east side of Lincoln Park Zoo, in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, was the perfect spot. It is known to locals as ‘The Honeycomb’, but the actual name of the structure is the “People’s Gas Education Pavilion”.

It is a very popular spot, especially on this warm sunny August day. This particular day, the park was full of guests and a few other wedding parties. Every wedding photographer there was amazingly respectful. It even looks like we were alone at the park for those few minutes!
